Hand carved apple wood spoon. Next time I will carve the bowl, then the depression between the bowl & handle and finally the tips. This time I left the depression until last and didn’t really have a good grip so it took ages to get it right. It feels amazing in your fingers, a really tactile shape.
More home made Christmas gifts. I designed a monthly planner with sections for lists between each month which I had printed then hand bound.
I shy away from pen drawing because I’m hugely dependent on my rubber. This was doing ok… until my pen (uni-pin 0.05 fine line) INK SPLOTCHED all over the figures chin. The beard was clearly distracting from the rest of the image, luckily I was drawing on some nice thick paper so I could razor the top layer off, removing the drip. SUCH A HANDY TIP. It scuffs the paper a bit, but is much better than a bearded lady.
The whole drawing was based off an original hare doodle which I uploaded, because the original is always just a bit better!
I recently read Life Of Pi during 48 hours of back to back coach journeys and found this weird correlation between the orderliness of Pi’s survival routine and my travels. I doodled the contents of my life raft on a photo I bought at a flea market in Berlin.
